Getting To Brussels By Train

The Eurostar operates a full service to Bruxelles Midi, and the Thalys Express also runs between Brussels and destinations including Paris, Amsterdam and Cologne.

Bus Road & Rail Travel

As you might expect from a city that’s dubbed “capital of Europe”, Brussels enjoys strong transport links – not only within Belgium and Europe but throughout the globe. Brussels has strong rail links with other European countries and the city has an efficient internal public transport system that uses underground, trams and buses.

Getting To Brussels By Air

Brussels’ most prolific airport is “Brussels International Airport” (located in Zaventem) and is 13km away from Brussels city centre. It takes 35 minutes to reach the city from the airport. The majority of airlines fly to this destination and as you would expect it has the features & facilities you would expect from a major international airport, such as duty free shops, car parking, taxi booking, car rental, banks, post office, restaurants, and medical assistance, internet and fax services. From Brussels International, you can reach your ultimate destination by train, taxi or bus.
The Airport City Express train transports passengers to three main railway stations – Brussels North, Central and South. One can use a bus which runs regularly from the airport, or hire a taxi outside the arrival hall. Tipping the taxi drivers is considered customary. Trains run every 15 minutes.

Alternatively, Brussels’ second airport is Brussels Charleroi, which is significantly further away from the city centre – 5 km away from Charleroi and 46 km from Brussels The airport is linked to Brussels midi train station. Ryan Air serves as the local airline here and has cheap deals for several European destinations to and from Charleroi. The facilities provided here are bus and train services, café, car hire, and duty free shops.

Ostend airport is 5 km away from the city and car parking, car hire, duty free shops, and restaurants are provided here.

Antwerp airport is just 2 km away from the city. Buses run to the Brussels Central Station every few minutes.

Liege is situated at a distance of 5 km away from the city. Buses run at regular intervals from there.

P&O Ferries

If you’re less bothered by time and want to enjoy some real luxury, you can take the ferry from Hull (in East Yorkshire) to Rotterdam, allowing you road and rail access to Brussels. The crossing takes place at night.
Getting To Brussels By Bus

Brussels is well connected to various European destinations including the United Kingdom by bus. Most coaches terminate at Bruxelles Nord, after which the traveller can take a train or taxi onto their final destination.
